A $500 million dollar project aims to bring new student housing to Dartmouth college students, freeing up some of the housing stock in Hanover.

The board of trustees at Alabama State University approved plans for additional student housing. New residential apartments for students at Alabama State University will go up on Forest Avenue and South University Drive. Combined, the two buildings will house more than 550 students on campus.

The City of Madison Common Council approved a change to the city’s zoning code Tuesday night to expand the existing downtown affordable housing incentive so it can be used to create more affordable housing specifically for college students.

Alabama State University’s board of trustees has approved plans for two new student housing complexes to be built on campus. The approved housing consists of new residential apartment buildings on Forest Avenue and South University Drive.

A new school year has just begun and Conestoga College has announced it’s making investments into it’s student housing offerings. The school said that investment is in addition to 300 new beds at the Inn of Waterloo.

This fall Fresno State will break ground on a new affordable student housing project, the first major housing initiative at Fresno State since 1968. This project will add 228 apartment-style beds to the portfolio for Fresno State Student Housing. 

Alignvest Student Housing REIT, the private real estate investment trust based in Toronto valued at $1.44 billion with a portfolio of nearly 7,200 beds, said it appointed Greg Kalil and William Young to its board.

Orlando-based Development Ventures Group, also known as known as the Deven Group, plans to grow its student housing development portfolio to more than $1 billion worth of assets in the next three years.

New York University paid $69.2 million equivalent to $1,235/unit, to acquire a 13-story dormitory at 35 Cooper Square in NoHo from a partnership between Sherwood Equities and Bhatia Development Organization, reported the New York Business Journal.
