Construction is now officially underway on another new major student housing building atop Burnaby Mountain, serving the growing needs of Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) main campus.

The Evolve Student Housing development to meet the demand for on-campus living has been approved by the California State University (CSU) system’s Board of Trustees, permitting construction of the project to begin.

Nottingham city councillors have approved an 18-storey tower block near the railway station after sending previous plans back to the drawing board over design concerns. MRP Nottingham Ltd had initially asked to build a 22-storey block at the junction of Queen’s Road and London Road.

Plans to turn a disused mill building in the New Basford area of Nottingham into a 136-bedroom student accommodation scheme have been given the go-ahead. Dave Landa of JGM submitted the plans for 490 Radford Road back in December 2023.

Spain's Bankinter has submitted a binding bid for Livensa, a student accommodation platform owned by Canadian fund Brookfield, in what would be one of the largest deals in the sector in recent years, Spain's Cinco Dias reported on Wednesday.

The largest of these new contracts is a £30m project to construct a new 273-bed student accommodation development on Osborne Street in Glasgow. A further PBSA development has also been secured, for a 76-bed development on Canongate, Edinburgh, for S Harrison developments.
