It’s been reported that students from countries including Jamaica, Nigeria and India who have lived in the UK since childhood have been subjected to harsh action by Student Finance England in response to student loan applications.

We Belong, who authored the report ‘The Disintegration Generation’ stated that many students were having their student loan applications rejected despite submitting the relevant required documents to SFE.

Many are high-achieving students who are now suffering from damaging delays, with some having to drop out and others not being able to start at all.

The students, who fall under the ‘limited leave to remain’ status, make up roughly 8,000 of the applicants to student finance funding – a fraction of the 1.3 million people who are loaned to every year as part of student finance.
