3. Undertake a local work placement
Many university students undertake work placements as part of their course, or through their own initiative, and there is something to be said for looking locally for such opportunities.
Students will not have to commute, or organise temporary accommodation, as they are already based in the town. Similarly to taking on a part-time job, it provides more opportunity to meet local businesses owners and colleagues and expand their professional network.
Action: Foster ties with local businesses where students could undertake work placements. Considering having representatives coming in to talk about the opportunities on offer.
