Developer and manager Watkin Jones has exchanged contracts for the forward fund of the Gas Lane PBSA development in Bristol to global real estate investment, development and property manager Hines, who are acquiring the development on behalf of the Hines European Property Partners Fund (‘HEPP’).

The city council has recommended the 107-bed Charles Street scheme for approval, the latest in a wave of student developments in the city. Designed by SimpsonHaugh Architects, the project would see a long-vacant site on Charles Street transformed into purpose-built student accommodation.

Greenwich Council has approved Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands (LDS)’s all-new plans for a 36-storey tower next door to RSHP’s O2 arena in south-east London. LDS’s latest designs involve an 820-student-bed tower rising to 36 storeys with amenities, ground-floor commercial space and landscaping.

Design and build firm McAleer & Rushe has won a contract worth in excess of £100m by developer Dominus Real Estate to redevelop an office block into over 700 student accommodation units.

Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) provider and Dandara Group division – Dandara Living – has been granted planning permission by Glasgow City Council to develop City Wharf.

A £500m equity injection has been secured by Birmingham-based developer and investor, Sama Investments. Funding will help the group’s wider strategic approach of identifying PBSA and residential opportunities which could benefit from its specialist regeneration approach.

Plans have been unveiled for a 623-bed student accommodation scheme on the site of a Mecca Bingo hall in north London. Real estate investor Tri7 and student housing developer Fusion Group have submitted proposals for the mixed-use scheme in Wood Green to Haringey Council.

A developer is making a second attempt at getting approval for a massive student accommodation development at the former Marks and Spencer site on Sauchiehall Street. Original plans by Fusion were refused by Glasgow’s planning applications committee in November.

Developer Re:shape Living has purchased a site on Macbean Street in Woolwich, with plans to create a new development for co-living and student accommodation. The site could also include a new two-storey community space and public realm, according to the developer.

Beachrock has been appointed to sell a £90m portfolio of purpose built student accommodation (PBSA), comprising 1,494 student bed spaces. The seven assets are located in four university cities with each bed worth £60k.
