A joint venture between The Scion Group and an institutional investment partner has acquired The Aves at Twelve100, a 507-unit, 1,527-bed student community in Orlando, Fla., serving the University of Central Florida. Harrison Street was the seller, according to Yardi Matrix data.

The City Centre-branded complex of buildings in Surrey’s Health and Technology District (HTD) campus will see a new major infusion of purpose-built student housing.

In a strategic move to address student housing needs, Conestoga College has broadened its real estate portfolio in Waterloo. The former Inn of Waterloo, following renovations, is expected to house up to 300 students. Meanwhile, the additional properties at 400 Albert Street and 419 Hazel Street will add 155 beds to the college's housing inventory.

Champion Real Estate Company has acquired Salisbury Campus Apartments, a five-building student housing community near Purdue University at 300, 310 and 318 Salisbury Street and 229 and 235 Littleton Street in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Darden Housing Plan schematics show 218 units in two buildings, with about 350 beds spanning studio units as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

University Partners has acquired The William, a 370-bed student housing community located adjacent to the University of Georgia campus in Athens. The property was developed in 2022 and offers studio, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units with bed-to-bath parity.

The University of Ottawa, Canada, is preparing to tender a student housing P3 project, with P3 advisors being sought to help. Under the plans, private partners will be sought for a mixed-use student housing project.

Development can proceed on an expansive student housing complex at Vancouver Island University. Funded almost entirely by the provincial government, the roughly $88 million complex would host 266 student beds as well as support services, amenity spaces and food options.

The University of Texas System Board of Regents has given UT its blessing to negotiate agreements to build an estimated $145 million, 1,000-bed undergraduate student housing complex at the site where another university development houses about a fifth that number of student beds.

More student housing is set to be built in Clemson after the City of Clemson planning commission approved a planned-use development for a new apartment building on Keowee Trail during its meeting on Feb. 12. The new development, as planned, will contain over 1300 beds, primarily student housing.
