Summix Capital, the London-based property developer, has acquired the vacant Independent House in Dublin north city-centre, announcing plans to restore the building as new student accommodation.

Specialist development finance lender Atelier has announced that a £3.1m loan has been provided to facilitate the acquisition of a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development just north of Nottingham city centre.

A proposal has emerged for a large-scale student accommodation project in Athlone, which could see the addition of more than 800 new bed spaces close to the TUS campus.

Student accommodation developer Unite Students has sold a chunk of its estate for £184 million to fellow property investor PGIM Real Estate. The six sites, across Birmingham, Cardiff, Leicester, Liverpool, Nottingham and Sheffield, include 2,948 beds, and are on average 18 years old.

According to plans, the buildings between 137 and 151 Trongate would be transformed into 101 'self-contained student studio apartments'. These homes would be 'high-quality student accommodation within an inclusive and safe environment'.

The University of Bristol has appointed Cushman & Wakefield to identify a developer to deliver a new £175mln (€200 mln) purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme on Temple Island, located adjacent to the University's new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC).

Student accommodation agency Londonist DMC has added a new student residence, Drapery Place, to its portfolio in the UK capital city. Now open to booking for the 2024/25 academic year, the property can accommodate 617 students, incorporating en-suite and studio rooms.

The planned student scheme, known as Perryian Works, will be located at 1 Lancaster Circus and and involves building towers rising to 40 and 50 storeys. The proposals will support the continued growth of nearby universities, with Aston and Birmingham City University only a short walk away.

Cerberus Capital Management has extended a £66.2 million (€75.4 million) loan to aid in financing two development projects spearheaded by Partners Group and Host Student Housing UK, a student housing and co-living investment collaboration.
