Developers Dominvs Group and Whitbread have published their ambitions for the Deansgate Locks Premier Inn site, which sits within Manchester City Council’s First Street Development Framework.

A proposal that could see the former Co-operative Funeralcare site on Church Road turned into student accommodation has been revealed. The new vision for the brownfield land would see up to 250 flats built in buildings up to six-storeys high, along with car and cycle parking spaces and landscaping.

The site of the former Nye Bevan House in Glasgow, described as the “largest available development site in the city centre”, has been put up for sale.

Unite Students, the owner, manager and developer of student accommodation, has sold six properties in Aberdeen for £33 million (Unite share: £20m) to Clearbell Property Partners, a fund managed by Clearbell Capital.

The current student accommodation crisis comes as no surprise. It has been obvious for months that a combination of a shortage of rental properties and the arrival of refugees from Ukraine were going to make it even more difficult than usual for students to find a place to live.

The firm has gone out to consultation with plans for a six-storey building of around 540 student rooms at a site on the western edge of Coventry near the University of Warwick.

Following an appeal by property developer S Harrison, planning permission has been granted for a new student accommodation scheme with 64 studio apartments in Edinburgh.

Proposals have been revealed for a major regeneration project in York that is set to provide new leisure, commercial and residential space, and support job creation.

A London based investment group has secured an eight-figure green loan funding package from HSBC UK supporting purpose-built student accommodation across the UK. Curlew Capital, a privately-owned investment and development management firm, has utilised a £12.
