London, 14 October 2026. Global Student Living (GSL), the trusted resident insight and benchmarking partner to the living sector, today announced the acquisition of StudentReviews.com, a review platform for student accommodation built for the way students now search.
The acquisition, on undisclosed terms, extends GSL’s core capabilities beyond private experiential benchmarking, to create new opportunities for its clients to showcase their performance publicly and build a trusted online reputation.
StudentReviews.com, initially established as an education review site in the US, now focusses on the growing student housing market across the UK and Europe, publishing more than 50,000 ratings and reviews from verified students and residents, collected since 2016. That figure is expected to nearly double by the end of 2026 as GSL enables key integrations for its client base across 19 countries.

James King, Technical Lead at GSL, said “The StudentReviews.com platform has been built for AI discovery from the ground up. The full review history is available as structured, machine-readable data with open access for AI systems. This allows the AI tools students and their parents increasingly rely on to make recommendations and set expectations with confidence, drawing on verified experience rather than marketing copy. Those tools favour review content that is verified at source, dated, consistent in method and available at scale.”
Until now, operators with a strong resident experience have had no automatic way to make that experience visible to the AI tools where the decision is now made. From October 2026, GSL clients can do so by enabling integrations with the GSL Index and ResX Studio that allow detailed review content to flow directly to StudentReviews.com through the same trusted mechanism operators already use to collect internal resident feedback, with no additional effort.
Resident experience, benchmark position and public reputation now become one system: understand what residents think, act on it, and now use the same tools to make that experience visible to the next cohort and to the AI they use.
Tim Daplyn, founder and CEO of GSL, said: “Operators can spend decades investing in and refining resident experience, but until now have had few ways to prove it beyond their own marketing. GSL’s acquisition of StudentReviews.com changes that. The evidence is verified, it is at scale, and it is in a form the AI tools students now use want to consume. For our clients, reputation becomes a consequence of the great work they already do, rather than a separate effort.”

About StudentReviews.com
StudentReviews.com is run independently of the accommodation providers whose properties it covers. Every resident at a surveyed property is invited; nobody is screened or selected. Properties are listed whether or not the provider is a GSL customer, on the same terms, and no provider can pay to appear, pay to rank, or have a review removed for what it says. Providers may reply in public to any review. A property’s score counts every star-rating left for it, weighted towards recent responses, not only the reviews from residents who chose to write. The full methodology, including the use of incentives, is published at studentreviews.com/methodology.
