Hickory and MaxCap have commenced construction on a $300 million purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project in Melbourne’s CBD.

Olympian Homes chief executive Richard Simpson has been appointed managing director of investment at the new UK living platform led by Student Roost founder Tim Butler, which is backed by pension fund AustralianSuper.

Hickory and MaxCap have begun construction on a $300 million, 26-level PBSA project at 570 Little Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD, delivering 892 beds across 748 units with extensive student amenities and a planned opening in Semester 1, 2028.

A purpose-built student accommodation scheme, Kennington Lane, has capacity for 185 beds, and has been finished well ahead of schedule.
