McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. broke ground on the $285-million, 424,000 square-foot North District Phase 2 Student Housing Development at University of California, Riverside (UCR).

State-owned National Housing Corporation (NHC) plans to expand into student accommodation as part of diversifying its revenue streams under its draft strategic plan. The lead implementer of government housing projects says it is initially looking at putting up 5,000 student hostel unites in five years.

New plans for a huge skyscraper in Glasgow city centre have been revealed. The building, which will be located at the side of the M8 motorway at Charing Cross, is set to house nearly 800 students.

The PBSA assets feature premium rooms and common spaces, in line with the demands of the current generation of students, and are Leed ESG certified gold and silver, the firm said.

A total of 489 additional student resident suites are being proposed as the next stage of development on the former Holiday Inn site on Scottsdale Drive. The location already has an existing privately-run student housing building that contains 164 suites.

TSB Realty, LLC successfully completed the sale of The Academy on Charles, a 106-unit, 328-bed student housing property located immediately adjacent to Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus in Baltimore, Maryland. GMH Communities sold the property to an undisclosed buyer.

Proposals have been announced to demolish Clarendon House - partly occupied by Exeter Jobcentre Plus - and replace it with a student block of 350 bedrooms and up to 16 storeys in height.
