Walker & Dunlop Funds $380M for Student Housing Credit Facility

Walker & Dunlop, Inc. has funded a new $380,000,000 credit facility for the refinance of 11 student housing properties on behalf of a joint venture lead by The Scion Group LLC ("Scion"). Scion is the largest owner/operator of off-campus student housing communities globally with over 80,000 beds in their portfolio.

Property developer Downing has acquired a 14-storey student accommodation scheme set to take shape in Newcastle city centre. The derelict site in Heber Street was home to Lock and Key and the attached NE4 cafe until it was destroyed by as fire in 2015, eventually leading to its demolition.
