A proposal has emerged for a large-scale student accommodation project in Athlone, which could see the addition of more than 800 new bed spaces close to the TUS campus.

The proposed development of a 334-bed student accommodation scheme in Leeds that will include the redevelopment of a listed building looks set to secure approval later this week (16 May 2024).

Student accommodation developer Unite Students has sold a chunk of its estate for £184 million to fellow property investor PGIM Real Estate. The six sites, across Birmingham, Cardiff, Leicester, Liverpool, Nottingham and Sheffield, include 2,948 beds, and are on average 18 years old.

According to plans, the buildings between 137 and 151 Trongate would be transformed into 101 'self-contained student studio apartments'. These homes would be 'high-quality student accommodation within an inclusive and safe environment'.

The University of Bristol has appointed Cushman & Wakefield to identify a developer to deliver a new £175mln (€200 mln) purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme on Temple Island, located adjacent to the University's new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC).

Student accommodation agency Londonist DMC has added a new student residence, Drapery Place, to its portfolio in the UK capital city. Now open to booking for the 2024/25 academic year, the property can accommodate 617 students, incorporating en-suite and studio rooms.

Greykite, the new investment firm launched by former TPG executive Michael Abel, is scouting the market for industrial, student housing and living acquisitions as the market enters 'a unique point' in the investment cycle.

The planned student scheme, known as Perryian Works, will be located at 1 Lancaster Circus and and involves building towers rising to 40 and 50 storeys. The proposals will support the continued growth of nearby universities, with Aston and Birmingham City University only a short walk away.

Today, LV Collective, a multifamily and student-oriented real estate developer, Kayne Anderson Real Estate, an alternative real estate investment management firm and Pacific Life, an insurance company announced the closing of their newest luxury student-oriented multifamily development in Tempe.

UC Santa Cruz will house up to 400 upper-division undergraduate students and more than 60 employees at a soon-to-be-constructed apartment complex to be built by a private developer, pending final review by the UC Board of Regents.
