The Université du Québec (UQ) must at least "double its capacity" to meet its growing housing needs, according to its president, Alexandre Cloutier. A project that requires investments of approximately $700 million.

The University of Michigan is planning a $631 million student housing complex on central campus, hailed as the largest project of its kind in the country.

Georgia-based Landmark Properties is planning to build a 12-story student housing project across the street from UC-Berkeley. The site at 2530 Bancroft Way currently is occupied by Bancroft Clothing Company. Landmark has filed plans to replace the store with a 110-unit dormitory, according to a report in the San Jose Mercury News.

A new student apartment building is coming to downtown Montreal, just a few metro stops away from Concordia, McGill and UQAM. Located on the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Ontario Street, 'Le Méridien' will house up to 281 students by the start of the 2026 academic year.

'We have an opportunity, I would say over the next 12 to 18 months, to bring online another 144 rooms at the UWI campus. In addition to that, we do have some other opportunities in Jamaica,' chairman, Ian Parsard said, citing other university developments.

The private student apartment complex being built at adjacent to the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus now has a name and a price tag. According to a press release, the apartments will be called Nexus on Holmes, and it is expected to cost $60 million to build.

Boise State University took steps to address the shortage of housing options for incoming students by commencing construction on a new residence hall near the Albertsons Library on Monday, Sept. 18.

Plans to build 624 units of affordable student housing on Cabrillo College’s Aptos campus got the green light last Thursday when Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill to fund the project.

Core Spaces has acquired Clemson Lofts, a 641-bed student housing property in Clemson, S.C. for $77 million, according to Yardi Matrix data. Realco Capital Partners and Arcapita Group Holdings were the sellers.

Villas Student Housing is off and running with its eighth project near the University of Texas at Austin. The development, designed by architecture firm Rhode : Partners, is set to be completed in summer 2025. It hasn’t yet been named.
