Under the proposals, existing buildings on Bangor Road will be demolished to make way for the erection of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), commercial units, landscaping and associated works.

Torsion Group’s PBSA development – Burley Studios – in Leeds has topped out. The scheme will deliver 189 student beds.

Plans to add student flats to part of a growing city centre development have been submitted. The application to build 89 flats near South College in Durham have been put forward by Banks Groups.

Fusion Group has appointed property firm JLL to sell the Sauchiehall Street site in Glasgow. The move comes after Fusion struck a deal with M&S to acquire the landmark building, having secured planning permission to construct a mixed-use development at the site.

Student accommodation provider Unite Students has completed 11 refurbishment projects this year from Glasgow to London, with a total cost of £32m. The overall refurbishment programme includes an annual spend of £50m to £75m over the next five years.

Birmingham-based developer and investor Sama Investment Group’s plans for a 301-bedroom PBSA scheme in Birmingham could be heading for planning approval. The PBSA building, rising to 15 storeys, has been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.

A 27-storey building and a huge overhaul of a student accommodation complex are among the applications approved by Manchester this week.

Plans to revive another long-derelict site in Woolwich have been submitted – this time with over 900 student rooms, 400 co-living spaces and 93 flats. An old electricity works would also be refurbished as part of the plans. The building would be extended and have five storeys added to it.

Fortitudo and Petra Development have applied to knock down the 'redundant' building on St Deny's Road to erect the accommodation buildings, a single storey building for communal facilities, plus cycle and bin stores.
