Pictured The Former Montrose hotel in Dublin bought up by UK student accommodation provider Ziggurat which has bought a number of sites in Dublins north city centre as part of a 400 million euro Irish expansion plan, after redeveloping the former Montrose hotel near UCD in recent years. The company plans to build up to 4000 new student rooms in developments in Cork and Galway. In Montrose they are charging between 220euro and 250euro per week which compares to a two-bed apartment costing 1800euro. This September as a record number of students attend Dublin colleges. The Central Applications Office (CAO) has recorded 80,997 people applying for colleges this year, up from 80,010 in 2015. According to an estimate from the Higher Education Authority last year, a record number of students will attend college in 2016. The report estimated that student numbers would increase from 168,000 in 2014 to nearly 193,000 by 2024, which will add to the record number of people desperately searching for accommodation. ING secures €23.7m refinancing deal for Dublin student accommodation Montrose

ING’s Real Estate sector team has successfully closed a €23.7m senior term loan to Hines in Ireland, refinancing one of their purpose-built student accommodation (“PBSA”) assets, Montrose.
