Ireland landlords face penalty of up to €30,000 if they disobey rules on student housing

Landlords face up to a €30,000 ­penalty if they do not abide by new rules around shorter tenancies for student accommodation. The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) will have the power to impose a hefty fine on landlords if they insist on charging students rent for the entire year and not just the academic year.
