The University of Washington Tacoma received Board of Regents approval for a new housing and dining development set to accommodate about 500 students by late 2029, marking the introduction of its first traditional dining hall.

The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved a $108 million investment to build a new 456-bed, four-story student housing complex at UTEP, addressing four years of full-capacity demand amid record enrollment growth.

Accolade Campanile will be located next to SDSU’s existing on-campus housing, across from the southern entrance to the school at the corner of Montezuma Road and Campanile Drive. The development will also include 4,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space, complementing existing shopping and restaurants in the vicinity.

Avenir Homes, a Longford-based construction firm, has secured a three-year extension to complete a student accommodation and residential development in Athlone, extending the deadline to August 2030.

Starkville’s board of aldermen approved a $3.35 million tax increment financing (TIF) agreement to support the $45 million Sandcreek Redevelopment Project, a joint venture by Desai Companies and York Developments, featuring a 100-room Home2Suites hotel and a 504-bed student housing complex on a 21.6-acre site off Highway 12.

Longford-based Avenir Homes, led by developer Mark Cunningham, secured planning approval for a mixed-use development in Westmeath, comprising 122 residential units, 283 student bedspaces, and a modern creche across Cartrontroy, Kilnafaddoge, Lissywollen, and Ardnaglug.

The University of Miami will replace Mahoney-Pearson Residential College with Gables Village, a new 573,804-square-foot complex featuring 1,458 beds—mostly single rooms—along with study lounges, classrooms, recreational spaces, and a 700-seat dining hall, scheduled to open in Fall 2028.

Lincoln Property Co. has acquired Capstone Development Partners, a student housing and university facilities development and management firm.

A purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme with ground-floor commercial space is heading to Birmingham City Council’s planning committee this Thursday. The 16-storey development would deliver 263 student bedspaces, including studios and cluster rooms, alongside 904 sq ft of commercial space.
