A set of abandoned 19th century buildings on the sprawling mountaintop Royal Victoria Hospital property are being earmarked for transformation into about 1,000 student residences for students from the many schools in Montreal.

Developers are looking to build a residence for post-secondary students, ranging between six and 11 storeys in height with 532 units and a total of 1,149 bedrooms. There are also plans for a 90-square-metre café on the ground floor.
