A real estate fund manager has struck a deal to acquire a student accommodation development of more than 600 units from Coventry University with a view to refurbishing the site. Set on a 4.8-acre site four-minutes' walk north of the university campus, Singer Hall consists of 621 non-ensuite rooms and six studios. It has been purchased by Frogmore and will be refurbished and managed by specialist student accommodation provider, The Mansion Group.

A draft environmental impact report published this month offers a look at Cal State Long Beach's master plan update, which will set the stage for the campus' development through 2035. One of the biggest changes is a plan to expand on-campus student housing capacity by approximately 1,600 beds.

The University of California Merced (UC Merced) and Merced College have announced plans to jointly develop a 488-bed student housing project for community college and transfer students. The California Legislature gave final approval for the $100 million mechanism that will fund the project.

The Netherlands has established a national action plan to expand student housing stock. The plan calls for 60,000 new beds to be in place by 2030, to address a current and growing shortfall in student housing throughout the country.

Regal London, the London developer, has submitted plans for a purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Brent on Wembley Greenaway, the land to the rear of 390-406 High Road, Wembley, close to the national football stadium.

A vacant 1970s office building at Blythswood Square, Glasgow, is to be swept aside for the city's latest purpose-built student accommodation block.

Fusion Student has selected the contractor to deliver its 509-bedroom Deansgate scheme. Domis has this week begun groundwork on the 28-storey Manchester student development. Completion of the £56m build is scheduled for summer 2026.
