Empiric Student Property plc, the owner and operator of premium, studio-led student accommodation aligned to top-tier universities, is pleased to report its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2023.

As waitlisting for student housing continues to be an issue, the University of Memphis is laying out a plan to expand housing services, primarily through new apartment-style student housing on the Park Avenue campus. The expansion is expected to be completed by the fall of 2026.

Amro Partners and Falco Capital have financed their joint student housing project in Alicante with a €17.5 mln three-year development loan from Fiera Real Estate. With this loan, global asset management firm Fiera is making its debut into the Iberian market via the Article 8-compliant Fiera Real Estate European Debt Fund.

The city council’s planning committee narrowly rejected a previous plan for the site in November, citing concerns about the project’s impact on the city centre’s conservation area, particularly the lack of mixed-tenure and an over-concentration of student accommodation.

Plans for 'mixed-use' student accommodation have been submitted to the City of Edinburgh Council. Set to be constructed in the city centre on 160 Dundee Street, the development would replace an office building in Fountainbridge.

Developer CXG Glasgow, owned by Tracey Investments, has unveiled plans for a scheme that includes student accommodation, local services and a hotel. Tracy also owns the nearby commercial complex Elmbank Gardens together with Regional REIT, the property owners of 300 Bath Street, known as Tay House.

Marquette Properties has snagged a Brisbane CBD office building at a 25 per cent discount to the price it last traded for eight years ago, after it sat on the market for over 18 months.

Far East Orchard, through its subsidiary, Osborne Street Development Ltd, has acquired a plot of land in central Glasgow, Scotland for GBP3 million ($5.1 million). The site is intended to be developed into a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) of 273 beds.

The 544-bed building got the go-ahead after government planning chiefs overturned a decision by the council last week (8 March). It means an office in Westwood Business Park will be knocked down and the block, six storeys at its highest point, will be built in its place.

Due to welcome residents from September 2024, London and South Capital have employed the services of Prestige Student Living to manage the property on their behalf.
