A business is bidding to add five floors to its base on the edge of the town centre to form an accommodation block for students at the University of Bolton. The applicant, Akbar Patel of AA Properties and Sons Limited, applied for outline planning permission for the site on Thynne Street at the end of last month.

Pope & Land Real Estate has acquired 100 Midtown, a 118-unit, 330-bed luxury student housing community in Atlanta for $36.8 million, public records show. First Carolina Bank provided a 5-year, $29.4 million loan, according to the same source.
