Plans to build a student accommodation block on an unused part of a Stoke Gifford retail park have been revealed by Canada Life Asset Management, in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE).

Located on Westfield Road in the Golgie-Dalry area of Edinburgh, west of the City Centre, the proposed development by Host will bring an unused site, currently occupied by an office/ car showroom, back to life in the form of high quality student accommodation, which will support the regeneration of wider area.

Manchester City Council today granted a resolution to approve a full planning permission to national developer McLaren Property, for the £70m redevelopment and restoration of St Gabriel’s Chapel and Lodge into new high-quality student accommodation, located in Victoria Park Conservation Area, Rusholme, Manchester.

The former Philips head office on Boschdijk in Eindhoven will be turned into temporary student housing until the final renovation of the building starts in 3 to 5 years, the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) announced. The 29-storey scheme was initially rejected because it was “too overbearing”. Developers MRP and Vita Group will now create the “high-quality” student rooms with a residents’ gym, dance studio, co-study spaces, social hub, games rooms and private dining rooms.

The student accommodation developer increased its asset value and its operational efficiency after a bruising year for property.
