The developer behind plans to redevelop the site of Belfast’s Fanum House into a major new student accommodation scheme, has confirmed the proposal will involve the demolition of two existing buildings on the site. South Bank Square’s proposal involves 610 student units in a development reaching 17 storeys.

Initially unveiled last year, the plan will see the building at 140 Causewayside removed in favour of a mix of studio and cluster apartments. The current building is classed at ‘medium’ risk owing to its use of aerated concrete panels subject to minor cracking and spalling.

Property developer Bricks Group is behind the plan to redevelop the former Royal Mail Bendigo Building site with a 660-bed scheme. The ‘True Nottingham’ scheme will offer a variety of living options including studios and four, five and six en-suite bedroom apartments.
